MORPHED INTO A SPIRITED YOUNG LADY BEFORE MY VERY EYES

“THE STUBBORN LITTLE LEGEND”
Hamish Holcombe 17-02-2026
From a ‘Hoover’ to a young woman.
What a privilege to have been there.
Few words were uttered from the lips.
A child stubborn look of on her dial.
For as long as there was food about.
Jess was content at her place of peace.
With time gaps, a transformation release.
TO THE CHARMING ADOLESANT ‘JESS’ OF 2026
TO SET THE EARLY SCENE:
In the ‘Merriba’ Kitchen beneath her big brother Dan.
Jess circled-crawling-searching for any scraps she can.
When come the time for walking she settled into the task.
Although toddling far behind, assistance Jess did not ask.
As oft I did visit their humble home which actually was just a shed.
She would have to vacate for me, her room, to find another bed.
One quick look across the room revealed no room for Jess to sleep.
Entire surface of the bedspread covered by soft animals one foot deep.
When one bush walking left far behind, no words were heard except a look.
Trying to just keep up, oblivious to the tiger pair attached to a leg, like a hook.
Pair of pliers required to pull it free, not a murmur, just familiar ‘never give up face’
Of steely determination not happy the time delay, just keep moving in her own race.
Jess and dogs, quite a team but one was special, one called ‘Whiskers’ reigned supreme.
Many hours were spent chatting between the girl and hound, a close bond could be seen.
Snakes and dogs are regular foes saw this last one when both snake and dog met their end.
So it seemed quite fitting that to the ‘Jess Friend Collection’ “Whisker’s” collar I did send.
A GAP IN TIME REVEALED SOME CHANGE OF SCENE:
The schooling years, time well spent growing up, love of horses then came into the fore.
Thinking all things equine, what to feed, ride plan, before Jess even leaves the front door.
Of progression and the morphing into serious public eventing showed grit is always near.
Of attention seeking broken bones overcoming injury to get back on board without a fear.
Enter skills of music making starting to emerge from the depth of Jess Emmery’s talent pool.
Both writing and recording song, a new challenge being tackled from creative musical stool.
So we came up with a deal - - I would write a poem with pictures to share with you all.
To put the ball firmly in the Emmery court as I sit waiting for my personal music score.

WHAT NEVER CHANGES:
The welcome look that I get whenever I front the Emmery front door frame.

Your music score is on its way Hamish Holcolm ;) This poem is beautiful in every aspect possible and will be printed and framed upon my wall, neighboring Whiskers collar. Thank you Hamish, you have set the bar beyond the clouds xx
